I saw an article today about what is needed to
become a published author. Arree Chung wrote:
There are three main things:
1. Craft. (Knowledge)
2. Deliberate Practice. (Action)
3. Grit! (They don't give up!)
I needed to read this today! Itās so difficult that point 3 has such an impact. Due to the subjective nature of the work and the element of luck, you can work your socks off, study, perfect your art and you might still never make it! Itās so hard to keep falling over and getting up again.
Many of the Write Mentors have contacted their potential choices now (announcing on Twitter) and stated the number of applications they had. Powers of deduction indicate that I have not been lucky and when you look at the numbers thatās not so surprising! I do feel disappointed as I was hoping to engage in a focused period of work with some guidance this summer. I am at a stage where I feel I need some kind of external input.
Itās a challenge, but I need to manage these difficult feelings and carry on...
