Not the outcome I was hoping for 🐾

I saw an article today about what is needed to

become a published author. Arree Chung wrote:

1. Craft. (Knowledge)

2. Deliberate Practice. (Action)

3. Grit! (They don't give up!)

I needed to read this today! It’s so difficult that point 3 has such an impact. Due to the subjective nature of the work and the element of luck, you can work your socks off, study, perfect your art and you might still never make it! It’s so hard to keep falling over and getting up again.

Many of the Write Mentors have contacted their potential choices now (announcing on Twitter) and stated the number of applications they had. Powers of deduction indicate that I have not been lucky and when you look at the numbers that’s not so surprising! I do feel disappointed as I was hoping to engage in a focused period of work with some guidance this summer. I am at a stage where I feel I need some kind of external input.

It’s a challenge, but I need to manage these difficult feelings and carry on...
