I have been listening to recorded and live webinars about writing in general and writing picture books. I have really enjoyed catching up with the Winchester Writerās Festival recorded sessions. I listened to a great one for my novel last night about twists and reveals.
I find that, although the webinars I am selecting suggest that they are for a particular type of writing, there are general gems š in all of them whatever you are writing. I have also participated in webinars where my work was critiqued and I found that very nerve-wracking, but also very liberating! I found myself wanting to do this more afterwards!
As well as listening, I have been trying to apply what I have gained about picture books to some new drafts and also to consider some āzombieā manuscripts (thanks to #Kidlitzombieweek on Twitter š¦). I have had a productive few weeks in terms of Picture Books, but what I really need to do is get on with writing my novel because I truly believe itās a story that needs to be told. Itās not a memoir, but it does have some grounding in reality. I am hoping to enter a competition with it later today, but first I feel I need a little relax after work.
