The Velo-ci-NAP-tor
I found a napping dinosaur just the other day.
Not trapped in some Jurassic world or dead as people say.
He was buried in the earth, just sleeping safe and sound.
Velo-ci-nap-tor snoring, snoozing in the ground.
He must have been caught sleeping when the comet hit.
Soporific from his lunch, deep within his pit.
For many years the raptors were thought to hunt in packs,
Keen, agile dinos with scales upon their backs.
But the napping dino is smaller than I thought,
At 6 feet long and 2 feet tall, that’s not what we were taught.
More like a massive chicken with feathers on his back,
And all alone, snoring, no sign of his dino pack.
Velociraptors stab their prey and hide right out of sight,
Then creep back when it’s over to take a juicy bite.
I tried not to disturb him for fear I might be next,
Instead, I snapped a selfie and mailed it with a text.
To share the napping dino, preserved for all to see,
I left him in a slumber, his secret safe with me.
