I continued to work on my picture book text I started editing during Confab. The event helped me to realise that, although I like non-fiction, it would have to be exact and true to life. I think what Iām thinking about is more likely to be historical fiction. This is because I will undoubtedly have to fill in some gaps in the stories I am writing.
I have been working on several PB texts. One I have been working on the POV of the main character and interweaving humour into the text and pitch. For another, I have been revisiting a very old MS. This was part of the Kidlitzombie
week on Twitter. I really enjoyed this and became enthused with these old texts again. I was sorry that I didnāt win any prizes as this would have been the icing on the cake š§
I found out this week that I have been selected to participate in a Simon and Schuster workshop. I am delighted! It will be with a Senior Editor.
i had a great workshop on Thurs with Alan Durrant, Childrenās Author and great feedback from a PB text I shared with my Totally Funny Critique Group.
Lots of queries still, out but I know these are
likely to be nos as I need to work further on the texts I submitted. As Alan said last night, get your text to a state where you think itās ready to send then put it away again for a short while because itās likely there is more to do.
