What a pace it has been since late August! In terms of school return, work and all that normal stuff that has been fast-paced, but the writing world has been even faster!
I have been engaging in one after the next webinar and conference and critique group. I have written a number of picture book texts and edited others. I have joined a mentorship group to get some of my novel done as I clearly cannot write it without support. I need to get that first draft done.
We now have a couple of weeks of online events, SCBWI agent party, Golden Egg novel conference, WOWCON, picture book Palooza, SCBWI conference and 1:1 Industry Insider event SCBWI. Itās gone crazy! I am supposed
to be attending two conferences for writing while I am away on a scrapbooking weekend with friends! šµ Luckily, all of these things are recorded and itās great that I can attend events in UK and US online. I have a critique group with US friends on the same weekend above but thatās going to be impossible!
I went to an exhibition yesterday on my favourite topic and found new inspiration for a picture book text so nothing is wasted in terms of writing āļø
I have listened to 12 x 12 individual lessons by Julie Hedland, which have been great, and I have listened to the free Golden Egg conference on writing your novel several times and gained some real nuggets.
All of the knowledge and experience gleaned from critique groups and conferences is hopefully helping me to hone my craft. Certainly the feedback I received from an author critique I won showed less aspects for improvement and a manuscript closer to finished on the 2nd draft.
itās an exciting time and Iām hoping closer to my time ā°
